Young people love to move, and dance can be a fantastic way to incorporate movement into the classroom and teach students academic subjects as well as the larger life lessons like teamwork, tolerance, creativity, focus and self-esteem.
Today’s teachers are charged with not only teaching the ABCs and 123s, but these larger character-building lessons as well. With more and more curriculum standards depending on types of thinking, rather than just specific subject matter, teachers (no matter their level of experience) need to network with other teaching professionals in order to ensure that they are up to date on the latest best practices for pedagogy. Our professional development sessions create an environment where educators of all levels of experience can share tools to create lesson plans that address 21st Century Learning Skills and requirements.
ClancyWorks company members work with public school teachers of all grade levels (K-12) in professional development workshops to help them acquire awareness of dance and movement for academic curriculum development, as well as classroom management, social skills, and learning habits. We teach the step-by-step tools, techniques and practices that allow teachers to easily include dance and movement into their lesson plans.
Teachers who have participated in our professional development programs see an expansion in their pedagogical possibilities. Their students respond positively to the opportunity to learn through movement, with enhanced learning engagement and focus, school attendance and a greater sense of mutual respect, trust and community.
ClancyWorks’ diversity of dance techniques, as well as our unique approach to partnering in dance, gives public school teachers a wide range of possibilities to apply dance and movement to lesson plans and to engage the students with enthusiastic learning.
We hold professional development workshops for public school teachers throughout the year and can also arrange specialized workshops upon request for K-12 schools regionally and nationally. Our workshops are effective for teachers of all grade levels, and all levels of movement ability and experience.
Professional Development sessions are designed specifically to meet the needs of individualized educational communities. Contact ClancyWorks to create the next professional development session tailored to the needs of your educators.
