Our faculty list continues to grow. Confirmed Session Leaders include: Tamara Ashley (United Kingdom) is a senior lecturer in the division of Performance and Choreography at Northumbria University where she also directs Brief Magnetics, a performance company committed to developing narratives for spaces and place. Recent independent projects include “Performing the Pennine Way”, an epic danced at various sites over a 270 mile course during a period of 31 days. She has an MFA in Dance and Related Arts from Texas Woman’s University. Glenna Blessing (Baltimore, Maryland) is an assistant professor in the Dance Department at Goucher College and a member of the dance faculty at Carver Center for Arts and Technology. She helped to write the middle school elective curriculum for the Baltimore County Public Schools. Blessing has performed nationally and throughout Canada with several companies including the University of Oregon Repertory Dance Company, Howard County Ballet, and Ballet Theatre Pennsylvania. She received her B.A. in Dance from Goucher College in 1998 and her M.F.A. with a dual emphasis in Dance Science and Performance/Choreography from the University of Oregon in 2001. Glenna has been a member of ClancyWorks Dance Company since 2005. Adrienne Clancy (Silver Spring, MD) builds on 18 years of professional dance teaching, performing and choreographic experience. Previous to founding ClancyWorks, Adrienne was a member of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company and the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange. In addition to directing ClancyWorks and teaching dance at George Mason University, Adrienne serves on the Executive Committee for Alternate ROOTS and is currently pursuing a PhD in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. Alison DeLeo (DC) – is a Physical Therapist and Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at The George Washington University. She is also the co-founder of The Total Vocal Athlete, a performing arts medicine company that focuses on treatment, education and research in performing arts medicine. In clinical practice, Dr. DeLeo has worked with dancers from Ailey II (on tour), Kirov Academy of Ballet, American Dance Institute and Joy of Motion. An active member of the Performing Arts Medical Association and the APTA Performing Arts Special Interest Group, Alison has focused her research on prevention and treatment of dance and musical theatre related musculoskeletal injuries. Rima Faber (MD) founded and directed The Primary Movers curriculum that addressed the artistic and technical training in dance, as well as emotional, social (1979-1997), a dance school and company that taught children of all ages in a, cognitive, and academic development. She also taught in DC Public Schools from 1980-1997 and worked for the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) to help develop assessments for dance (1994-1998). After receiving her Ph.D. in Education, she was instrumental in forming the National Dance Education Organization where she currently serves as Program Director to advance dance education in the arts. Adriane Fang (VA) graduated with honors with a double major in Dance and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. She was a member of Doug Varone and Dancers from 1996-2006, and has worked with several other choreographers including Wally Cardona, Colleen Thomas, Bill Young and Penny Vercelline. She is the recipient of a 2007 New York Dance and Performance (Bessie) Award for her performance with Doug Varone and Dancers. Currently Adriane is on the faculty at George Mason University (VA). Jeffery Gunshol (New Orleans, Louisiana) brings 18 years of professional performance and teaching experience to this project. Mr. Gunshol danced for Melanie Stewart in Philadelphia, Mark Dendy in New York City, and from 1992-1997 Jeffrey taught, choreographed, and performed with the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange. Recently, Jeffrey has taught at the American Dance Festival in North Carolina and the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam and is currently teaching at Tulane University. Suzanne Henneman (Baltimore, MD) is the Dance Resource Teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools and has been teaching and administrating dance education for 30 years. Her many responsibilities include writing and implementing K-12 dance curriculum, supervising the 16 dance teachers in the county with 10 fine arts dance programs grades 6 – 12, and providing resources and training for Pre-K through grade 12 physical education. Carol Hess (MD) received her BA in Dance from Barnard College and her MA in Dance Education from Columbia Teachers College. For over ten years, her work has focused on the interaction between dance and video. Substrata, her dance film to music by the metalcore band Dillinger Escape Plan, was screened at the Maryland Film Festival 2006, Artscape 2006, Tucson Shortfest, the Dallas Video Festival, and the 2007 Rosebud Festival. In 2008, she received the Outstanding Service to Dance award from the Maryland Council for Dance. She is co-artistic director of Baltimore Dance Project, and coordinates the company’s outreach program and charis the dance department at UMBC, where she has taught since 1982. Workshop Fees: Fee for the workshop is $250. Tuition will be waived for Baltimore County Public School Faculty Members and ClancyWorks' Teaching Artists.
